Kyle Kovacik - Chair (2020) [West Lafayette, IN]

Someone posted a Metallica album tier list on Facebook. Metallica > Lulu > "I am the table" > Kyle Kovacik's Chair. This album is about as far removed from Lulu as you can get. Purely instrumental with a straightforward music. I'd call it synth jazz, but there's many more instruments in the mix. Definitely worth checking out!

Cult of Jester - Funkatron Remastered (2017) [west lafayette]

Cult of Jester is a 90s solo industrial project, 6drawing a lot of influence from electronic dance music of the time. I've never heard the original album, but the remaster sounds great in its own right.

Lights Strung Like Stars - It Gave Way to More Than You Could Imagine (2021) [west lafayette, in]

Their Bandcamp page states this music is for a time in their lives that makes little sense.  IWW is listed on LSLS or CY's profile. If it was someone from my generation making that page, they would have forgotten to upload the music yet remembered to post an incoherent diatribe about politics. Gen Z folk are just better than boomers and millennials. Facts.

Calendar Year and LSLS share at least one member. Blake M? (I'll ask and correct this.)

A Caesar Holiday - self-titled (2008) [Indianapolis, IN]

I am almost certain I discovered this five piece post-rock / avant-garde band on Bandcamp, but I can't find it anywhere. Luckily, there are a few copies of their music floating around out there. It's truly a shame this group didn't record more.

Calendar Year - s/t (2021) [West Lafayette, IN]

Calendar Year's s/t has a local 80s punk band raw production style to it, which fits the emo / screamo music perfectly. Definitely worth checking this band out.

Some Dogs - Somewhere Sunny (2020) [West Lafayette, IN

Some Dogs was seemingly a perfect addition to my dog-themed album collection. Discovered they are on Bandcamp as at least in part from West Lafayette

A mix of punk, folk, emo, and country with a tinge of trans/queen rights thrown in, but not in an in-your-face manner.

Some Dogs are legit big dogs, while other dogs be bigdoggin' it. This group is the former. A few awkward lyrics and vocals that could use a tiny but of work, but the imperfections help build a quality whole.

Wolfe Woolfe - Frankie Greenwood Sings A Boston Marriage [West Lafayette, IN]

That dynamic voice! Minimalist acoustic coupled with powerful vocals with quite a bit of range helps this stand out from typical local artist fare.
At the time of writing this, you can get this album for free (name your price) on Bandcamp!

Pat & the Pissers - Soil (July 10th, 2022) [from Indianapolis]

A punk rock album with an old school sound is a nice change of pace! Punk and it's relative genres haven't received much love from me on YouTube and various blogs despite our collection being quite sizeable. This seems just provocative enough to be proper punk, yet avoids all of the topics common in 80s punk likely to get a hate mob sent my way.

Burt Orange - Selections from the Produce Section [2022] [Lafayette, IN]

A masterfully-crafted jazz fusion album influenced by grocery store muzak compositions from the seventies. It has an interesting backstory too:

"Mr. Orange has been digging for vintage Sound Library and Muzak records for well over three decades... The fruits of his labor are now finally realized with this compilation. 'Selections from the Produce Section' is a vintage auditory experience, reminiscent of the ones Burt had at his local supermarket in the late 1970s. So sit back, twist one up, and enjoy these super sexy sounds from the produce section."

For fans of funk, lounge music, jazz, and seventies-inspired instrumental albums, this one is a must-own. Curious to discover what other projects Burt Orange, Preston Lee, and Analog Junkie Studios have been involved in.

NOTE: I'll match the first person to post a screenshot of their name-your-price contribution and will set the dollar amount of the combined contributions aside for giveaways in the coming months!

I don't really have any information on Empyrean Frost except he/she/they create dungeon synth and dark ambient music and they are apparently from West Lafayette, Indiana.

The album is only $5 at release -- quite the bargain.
